Weinsteins falling?

30 years ago, Bob and Hervey Weinstein founded Miramax in New York City. They started up by discovering Steven Soderberg (Sex, Lies and Videotapes), and Quentin Tarantino helped to build the house. In 2005, the Weinstein brothers sold Miramax to Disney and started TWC (The Weinsteins Company).
Four years on, Miramax is going stronger than ever. We are talking about Releasing-There-Will-be-Blood-and-No-Country-For-Old-Men-In-the-Same-Year type of strong! The Weinsteins company? In deep financial trouble. Even Quentin Tarantino can not save the ship. In fact, Quentin himself contributed to the sinking of TWC. The "Planet of Terror & Grindhouse" double-feature is a complete box office failure. "Inglourious Basterds" is a GREAT GREAT movie and had a massive box office success. Unfortunately, not enough to boost TWC out of the trouble -- TWC has to share the revenue with Universal, even Quentin Tarantino and Brad Pitt.
Mind you, the Weinsteins are not placing their hope on Quentin Tarantino. Instead, on "Halloween 2", by Rob Zombie. No offense to Rob Zombie -- He is a cool guy. He makes cool music, and some good low-budget slasher movies('House of 1000 Corpses' and 'Devil's Rejects' are among my personal favorites). But saving TWC? Not a job for him, I am afraid.
The latest news is that Summit is looking to acquiring The Weinsteins. No matter what happens to TWC, I truly hope that we can still see the brothers around. Just like their best pal Quentin Tarantino, these are two guys with true love for films, the guys who gave us 'Basquiat', 'Trainspotting', 'Velvet Goldmine' and 'The Reader'.

You wanna save the company? Go watch "The capitalism" which the Weinstein brothers produced.
